John Parrott Junior 1826 - 1915
My Nanna Copper's Father - John Joseph, was an only child, born in 1850 to John Parrott Jnr. and Maria Stuckey who died soon after childbirth. In 1852 John remarried again to Ellen Childs who raised little John Joseph as her own. They lived in Islington, Middlesex, London where John Parrott Jnr, was a gardener right up to the age of about 60 when he became a Post Messenger and in the 1901 and 1911 census he was recorded as a Bank Messenger. He must have been a sprightly old soul for he died at the ripe old age of 89 in 1915, out-living his wives, all his half siblings and only son.
History had repeated itself for John Junior, he himself had lost his own mother at an early age. John Parrott Jnr. was born to John and Ellen in Eling, Hampshire, England in 1826. Ten years later his Father married Harriet and went on and had 6 more children. John Parrott was born in Lyndhurst, Hampshire, England about 1804. on John Junior's baptismal record it states that his father was a Weaver. By the time of the 1841 Census we find that the family had moved to Chiswick, Middlesex, in London where all 6 children were born to Harriet and John :-
Samuel.............1836 - 1899
William.............1838 -
Harriett.............1840 - 1905
Mary.................1842
James...............1844 - 1899
Edward.............1847 -
John's occupation had changed to being a Market Gardener in Chiswick and a Gardener at Highbury Place, until he died in 1867, aged 63. I wonder what he would think of Highbury Place Park today?
The pin on the map shows the location of Lyndhurst in Hampshire.
